September 11, Iowa Hawkeyes, and Scotland

Hello! It just turned midnight so it is now officially September 11. It is our 6 year anniversary today. However, we will not be spending our anniversary together since Stephen had to stay in Boston this weekend to finish some work up before they go “live” on Monday. So, it looks like I will be spending our anniversary at home with Kendall and Jordan. Actually, I will probably spend all day Sunday working. :(

Today I just lounged around the house and watched college football. Unfortunately, I watched
the Iowa Hawkeyes take on the Iowa State Cyclones. I have already put the game out of my memory. I guess we won’t be going to the Rose Bowl this year! :( Let’s Go Hawks!!!

Stephen and I went to Scotland over Labor Day weekend. I just added pictures from our trip so be sure to click on the link on the right side of this page. We had a great time in Scotland. We arrived in Glasgow, Scotland, at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. We took a bus to Edinburgh and checked into our hotel around 11:00 a.m. We then washed up a bit and headed out to explore Edinburgh. The city has beautiful castles, churches, palaces, monuments, etc. We took a double-decker bus tour around the city and then we walked around to do some more sight-seeing. We toured Edinburgh Castle. We ate some pizza (we LOVE the pizza in Europe) and then we headed back to the hotel for some needed rest. We were exhausted. I only slept about one hour on the flight over and Stephen got two hours of sleep at most. In the past, we have “napped” when we arrived in Europe which really messed us up. Our “nap” would turn into 6-8 hours of sleep and we would wake up just in time to go back to bed. Scotland is 6 hours ahead of Texas. On Saturday, we took a bus tour to Linlithgow Palace, Stirling Castle, and Loch Lomond. On Sunday, we took a bus tour into the Highlands, searched for Nessie on Loch Ness, and got a chance to pet Hamish, the famous Highland Cow. We did not find Nessie, but the captain claims that they have found 18 different monsters and know their sizes and weights based on sonar. He also claims to have seen the Loch Ness Monster 6 times personally. Interesting. Sunday night Edinburgh had a fireworks display to celebrate the ending of the International Festival. Unfortunately, we could not see any of the fireworks by the end because so much fog had come in. It was sunny and beautiful (no rain) our entire stay until that night. It was 70 degrees when we were there which is very warm for Scotland. It sure beat the upper 90s in Texas!

This coming up weekend, I will be traveling to Chicago for a Bachelorette Party for one of my college roommates. It will be a lot of fun!!! I can't wait.

I guess I will head to bed now. Good night!

Angel
